Medical Resources for teens looking for prenatal care

Most teens ask the same question when finding out they are pregnant. The question that is often asked is who can they go to for medical attention for them and their baby? Some teens think that there is only one doctor they can go to for prenatal care. That is not true there are many more health resources you can go to for prenatal care.

One medical resource you can go to is a Gynecologist. A Gynecologist is a doctor that checks out the pregnant teen. They check the uterus and the cervix to make sure that the teen has no kind of cancer or that there is nothing wrong with the teens cervix or uterus. He or she also checks that there is nothing wrong with the teens reproductive organs.

Another medical resource that a pregnant teen can go to for prenatal care is a Ostetrician. A Obstetrician is also known as a Accoucheur. A Accoucheur is a man who assists the pregnant teen thorough their child birth.

A pregnant teen can also go to resource programs. There is a program called Resource Mothers for pregnant teens under the age of 18 who are pregnant with their first child. this program offers social support, health education and information, and general assistance offered by a Resource Mother. This program are referred to teenagers by schools, health departments, physicians, service agencies, and even peers.

Resource Mothers visit the participating teenagers at home or in other settings during their pregnancy. The visits are schedule more often if there is a crisis. The program has been the subject of several evaluations, many of them focus on reductions in low birthweight and improvements in infant development, since those are the major goals of the program.

Because the needs of pregnant adolescents are so high, many communities have developed comprehensive programs to meet them. The programs usually include, at a minimum, educational,    social, and medical services in one facility or by referral. These types of programs are sometimes funded by the federal Office of Adolescent Pregnancy Programs.

There are many health resources a teen can go to. I suggest that a teen find a doctor that they can depend on and trust to help them have a strong and healthy baby.
