Exams: The focus of our exams will be on the main points covered in class. The homework problems review these points and may provide some extensions. My exams typically have 2 or 3 short problems, which may have essay parts. There may be a short essay. There may be 10 - 15 conceptual multiple-choice questions. Approximately one week before the exam, I provide tips for test on the course download site to guide students. I may also post practice exam questions.
Homework policy clarification: See schedule and course website for homework to be submitted. Changes may be announced in class. You are allowed to miss one homework for whatever reason, including sickness. An exception is an extended sickness (one week plus) with supporting letter from the Dean's office. Your homework will not be returned. Thus, make a copy if you want it. I will put solutions on the course website shortly after the homework is scheduled. You are encouraged to use excel for homework.
The CD that came with your book has chapter 21 on analyzing financial statements. This reviews some key concepts from your financial accounting course, which will be helpful in studying budgeting and planning. Financial statement analysis techniques are also important background knowledge for the team project!
The CD that came with your book has a partially completed excel template (spats). Use this to do the homework and submit a printout. Save the file. Your homework will not be returned. Look at the ready shows folder on the CD that came with your book. The power point slides are useful summaries of key concepts. We will use some of these in class.
